The U16 and U16 Girls Basketball teams travelled to Mercy College Sligo for their final games of the season.

It started with the u16s who were the underdogs from the start as Mercy had secured a 12 point lead by the half time mark and led the whole game through.

However, the girls kept their heads up and were not ready to give up. The fourth quarter seen a real turn around with Coláiste Iascaigh scoring the baskets needed to climb back up the scoreboard. In the final five seconds Coláiste Iascaigh were driving at Mercys basket with no luck, one point seperating the two sides. Determination, team work and perseverance paid off with Coláiste Iascaigh finally finding the basket in the final second as the buzzer rang winning by a point. What a game!!!

Next up came the U19s, who were eager for a win right from the start. It took a few minutes to find our feet on the court but the girls started out strong and wanted the victory.

There was fantastic support, passing, defending and teamwork throughout this game and it filled me with pride watching  how far the girls have come this year, some new to the sport. The U19’s also secured a win and two very happy teams returned to school eager to share the good news.

Well done girls, we are so proud!!!!
