Principals Foreword

I am both delighted and proud to introduce Coláiste Iascaigh to you through our website and give you an insight into our vibrant and happy school community.

Coláiste Iascaigh provides an excellent educational experience on your doorstep. A local school for a local community. Our low pupil-teacher ratio ensures that students get personalised attention in small classes allowing them to prosper as learners.  We place great emphasis on teaching and learning and providing methods of instruction which meet the needs of all of our learners.

At Coláiste Iascaigh we have a proven record of academic achievement. We set high standards and ambitious goals in order to provide a top grade education where students perform well in state examinations. Many progress to third level, past pupils are presently attending college in Queens University Belfast, University of Limerick, NUI Galway, NUI Maynooth as well as various Institutes of Technology around the country.

Our school ethos places caring for and nurturing students at the forefront of what we do. We believe that the spirit of Coláiste Iascaigh lies in our commitment to help our students to realise their academic, moral and social potential. We want our students to be happy, healthy, successful, and to learn to value others, so that they can become responsible members of their own community. We value student welfare and strive to provide an enjoyable and personal experience by providing a broad and varied range of opportunities for our students. This helps create a vibrant spirit of community permeating all school activities.

As Principal I am proud to be part of a community of highly qualified, dedicated professionals who strive to achieve high standards in their work. Our teachers work hard to ensure students experience success. This success in turn is firmly rooted in the excellent relationship between teachers and students, working together in an atmosphere of mutual respect. The professionalism, commitment and dedication of our teaching staff is second to none.

The school works hard to develop and maintain warm and positive relationships with our parents. There are two parents representatives on our Board of Management and we have an active Parents Association. This strong parent – school  link helps ensure positive outcomes for our students.

Coláiste Iascaigh is a school community in its truest sense where all individuals can feel comfortable in their environment.

If you feel you would like further information, I invite you to make an appointment to meet with me, my Deputy Principal or one of my Assistant Principals to see our school community in action.

I look forward to meeting you all.
