Guidance & Counseling

Career Guidance and Counselling is central to our student support team in Coláiste Iascaigh.

The Guidance Counsellor works in conjunction with Subject Teachers, Class Tutors, Year Heads, Learning Support Teachers, Student Support Team, Parents, Further and Higher Education Institutions, Employers, and other additional services.

Here at Coláiste Iascaigh, we offer a comprehensive Guidance and Counselling service to all students in the school.

The main areas supported by the Guidance Counsellor in the school are:

The Guidance Counsellor is available to meet with students in a safe and confidential environment. Students may discuss concerns/problems and identify helpful ways of moving forward in overcoming challenges.

Recognising that no two students are the same and different students have different abilities and talents the Guidance Counsellor encourages each student to reach their true potential. This involves supporting students with subject choice and levels, study skills, exam techniques and motivating students to remain focussed and goal orientated.

The Guidance Counsellor aims to help students to identify career and vocational goals. Students will explore further and higher education options, recognise employment opportunities, prepare CV, and cover letters and plan for their educational / vocational path after their post primary education in Coláiste Iascaigh.

How to make an appointment with the Guidance Counsellor

Students may make an appointment to meet with the Guidance Counsellor. Parents are also encouraged to contact the Guidance Counsellor if they wish to discuss their child’s personal/social, educational, or career/vocational development.
